Water Temporary Use Ban to come into effect in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight from 5th August 22. Water Temporary Use Ban South East Water effective on 12th August 22

FWC has been in contact with Southern Water for clarification on the cleaning of windows using WFP during this TUB – Southern Water have confirmed that this Temporary Use Ban affects Domestic customers only.  Therefore, Window Cleaners can continue to clean windows using Waterfed poles.

Exemption – South East Water

(Pre-approved exemptions for certain categories of people or uses of water – if one of these applies to you then you can use your hosepipe for this reason)  - Cleaning of walls or Windows, of domestic premises using a hosepipe – where this is done as a service to customers in the course of a business or to clean public service or goods vehicles.

One of our region’s driest years for a century and highest ever temperatures have caused a drought that threatens to damage the precious habitats of the River Test and River Itchen.  As a result, Southern Water is introducing a Temporary Use Ban (TUB) for its customers in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to protect these rivers.   The extremely hot weather and reduced rainfall alongside increased demand has left the water levels significantly lower.
